Big Brothers Big Sisters “Day to Play in the Dirt”

Houston, Texas - Cornerstone Motocross Park will host the 2nd annual Big Brothers Big Sisters “Day to Play in the Dirt” event on March 27, 2010.

Most motorcyclists remember the day as a kid when they rode a mini bike for the first time, or maybe even the first time they took off across a grassy field or down a dirt road on a dirt bike. We created “Day to Play in the Dirt” to share this experience with children who may never have an opportunity to ride a dirt bike, or to see and feel the excitement of a day at the races.

At our 2nd annual “Day to Play in the Dirt” event on March 27, 2010, eighty lucky inner-city kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston and other local related charities will be the very special guests of Cornerstone MX Park and will receive VIP treatment from local off-road riders and their families. As part of this special event, each participating kid will receive personal riding lessons and will get to ride off-road motorcycles around a specially-prepared motocross track. In addition, the kids, their “Bigs” and their families will be treated to a trackside lunch, tours of the racing rigs on our special “Pit Row”, and will get to meet and watch Houston’s local motocross pros air it out on Cornerstone’s main track. Spectator admission is free, and the public is welcome to come out to watch our local riders in action on one of Houston’s premier motocross facilities.

“We learned from last year’s event how much our local motocross community can make a difference in the lives of these kids” said Cornerstone owner Greg Hattig. “Seeing the smiles on those kids’ faces all day long was enough for us to realize how much we wanted to make this an annual event here at Cornerstone MX” said Hattig, “so we are really looking forward once again to sharing our passion for this sport with these kids and their families”.

Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston is the Houston-area's number one one-to-one youth mentoring agency. They serve more than 2,000 children each year with a volunteer mentor, resulting in better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all.  Cornerstone Motocross Park is located at 18034 Kleb Rd Hockley, TX  77447. I'm proud to announce that with the help of Cornerstone MX, Team Faith's Kevin Johnson, April Sutton and others, we will be hosting a benefit RideDay on Saturday May 9th for injured AMA professional rider and friend Leighton Lillie. For those that don't know Leighton Lillie or his story....

On Saturday February 7th Leighton Lillie had a bad crash at the Tulsa, OK AMA National Arenacross race. He was going for the triple in the rhythm section and had to jump off his bike mid air. He came down feet first and landed hard on his butt. Immediately he had no feeling in his lower extremities.

He was rushed to the Hospital to find out that Leighton fractured his T6 and T7 in his spine. He had back surgery a few days after the accident where they inserted 2 rods and 11 pins in his back.

He has now been transferred to Craig's Hospital in Denver, CO. and is ready to get going on walking again.

The RideDay event will include a raffle, an auction for jerseys from top pros, food and more. The track will be open for regular scheduled practice so everyone come on out!

-Track opens at 10am, regular open practice until 7pm
-Raffle and auctions will begin around 12pm

Visit Leighton's website @ www.LeightonLillie.com

It is going to be a blast so please come enjoy the fun and help raise money for an amazing guy on his road to recovery. Thank you!
